Life in the slums of Nairobi does not get any worse. Large families live in tiny, dark, cramped, shacks with no heat, or running water. Most sleep on a dirt floor. Food is sparse and school is only possible with a sponsor. Drug and alcohol use is everywhere in the slums, which means child abuse is sadly the norm. Parents move to the slums thinking they will find work, but instead end up stuck in poverty that feels impossible to escape.
